The brown brittle star is a nocturnal animal and can be seen writhing around on the sandy sea floor. They can also be seen during the day hiding in the cracks and crevices of large rocks.

My brother found this little critter hidden in the sand, when he placed his hand down on the seabed to support himself. It was the first time we have every seen one, especially this close to shore.
Not 100% sure of id as these are rare in the med.
