Indo-Pacific. Red Sea. Widespread in the Indian Ocean

Habitat

Outer slopes mostly below 30m in also in shallow areas on black corals or gorgonians

Behaviour

Frequently perch on gorgonians which they use as lookout posts

Benthic and planktonic crustaceans

Spawning Behaviour

Eggs are demersal (sinking to the bottom)
