Submitting Photographs

All photographs must be underwater photographs. Although this is mostly a fish database, we do accept photographs of other underwater life, including coral, octopus, etc. All photos will be checked before being added to the database.

By submitting your photographs here, you automatically give us permission to display them on this site.

It would be of great assistance to us when filling out this form if you have previously familiarized yourself with our names for the various families of fish and their common names. If you are submitting a picture of a fish that is not already included on the site, it would also be very helpful to us if you can supply the scientific name.

If the species of fish you are submitting already exists in the database then you only need to fill out the common name, sex and age. The scientific name, family and length will just be taken from our database automtically upon matching up the common name.

The location details are split into "Ocean/Sea", "Country", "Town" and "Site". Site is intended for the name of a particular Dive Site. This is mostly useful for fish that remain in a very localized area, such as Anemonefish. Town is the nearest town from which you reach the dive site. Country is not always strictly a country but is in some cases a name of an island. For example, Crete is more useful than to put Greece, if you were diving off the shores off Crete, even though the island belongs to Greece!

If you have already entered one photo for a given site and either the site or town are good enough to uniquely specify that site, then you don't need to fill out the country or ocean fields.

You will receive an e-mail notification once your photographs have been added to the database.
